As a candidate for political office I believe in & follow these principles:
A- The only function of government is to protect life, liberty, & property.
B- Government can take individual life, liberty, or property in only four cases:
● to punish crime & provide for justice;
● to protect the right to private property & the right to control it;
● to provide for national defense & to wage defensive not preemptive war; &
● to compel all who are thus protected to bear their “fair share” of the burden. (See F, below.)
C- There is no justice in taking innocent life for convenience or to lessen our burdens. The preborn, elderly & handicapped deserve the same protections of the law given to all citizens.
D- Never should we allow freedoms guaranteed by the Bill of Rights to be infringed.
E- Property rights are violated when government takes our property or money to give to foreign governments or citizens, or to compete against private industries, businesses & citizens.
F- Fairness & justice require all taxes to be uniform so each person's property, business, etc. is taxed at the same rate, thus ensuring everyone pays their “fair share.”
G- We lose our liberty & freedom when we let government ignore our Constitution.
SUPPORT ENDURING PRINCIPLES OF GOOD GOVERNMENT!
∙ JUDGES should be elected each & every time, not retained. When judges rely on politicians to get into office, they often are more concerned with pleasing politicians than doing what is right.
∙ MERGING our policies & regulations with other nations’ is unconstitutional & destroys God-given rights, Constitutional protections, independence & sovereignty. Sovereignty can’t be shared.
∙ MURDER is a capital crime whoever the victim is & whatever their age. What is done after death doesn’t affect punishment because death is the greater crime - you don’t get well from it.
∙ WEALTH is only created by work. The workers' “bread” belongs to neither government nor the idler but to whomever earned it. We need to put government on a diet & a budget.
∙ GOVERNMENT VOUCHERS for private educational institutions are always a misuse of tax money.
∙ GOVERNMENT-PRIVATE partnerships are a form of socialism & should be discontinued.
∙ CRIME rises & property & lives are at risk when immigration laws are not enforced.
Becky Maddox: was born/raised in Corvallis, OR, & graduated from Oregon State University in Physical Education. She lived in Indiana 2 years; Las Vegas, NV 24 years; & UT 4 years. She’s been a Physical Therapist Assistant in hospital, outpatient, & home health settings for 10 years. Political experience: 13 years – Board of Directors of “Nevada Concerned Citizens” (NCC), a grassroots political group; 3 years – Board for Nevada "Coalition for the Protection of Marriage"; 2 years – Chairman of the “Preserve, Restore, & Expand U.S. Sovereignty, Today" (PREST) Committee in UT; & 1 year with “United Families” in Corvallis, OR. Becky has also spoken before state, county & city legislative bodies, school boards & at Town Hall Meetings in OR, NV & UT; & to high school students. WHY vote for a Constitution Party candidate?
1. Our economic & political mess comes because our elected leaders disregard the Constitution & we vote them back in, expecting different results. Their behavior is too entrenched to change.
2. The Declaration of Independence & Constitution make our nation unique - they clearly state basic human rights come from God & cannot be taken away by man.
3. Voting for “Third Party” candidates gives us more choices to find honest & wise people to represent us.
WHY you should vote for BECKY MADDOX:
1. Most economic problems are caused by government interference & control in the form of more socialism which only benefits some government officials & their friends. We must solve our own problems. Government has no money except what it takes from us or what it prints. When more money is printed, its value is less, causing increased prices. Bailouts will only hasten & deepen our problems.
2. I’ll vote to cut Utah property taxes. Since we always owe property tax we essentially rent our property from government & are forced to sell when taxes are too high. Thus taxation is the back door for government confiscation of private property. The Founding Fathers never envisioned such a thing.
3. I’ll vote to reduce all Utah taxes to their constitutional & proper levels so you can keep more of your own money. Utahns are always generous to the truly needy without government forcing "charity” through taxation.
4. I’ll vote “No” on education vouchers. Government money should only be spent on government projects. Public-private enterprises are socialistic & have no place in our form of government. Government projects have no incentive to be profitable – private business & industry does.
5. Merging policies & regulations with other nations will destroy our Constitution. I understand the dangers (which many politicians choose to ignore) & urgency of stopping these plans. I’ll continue to fight the plans here & encourage our delegation to fight them in Washington D.C.
6. I’ll support Immigration laws making illegals go home to the back of the line & wait before coming legally to Utah. Places where it’s a crime to house or hire illegals find they self-deport. People choose to come illegally, but they can’t choose the consequences to themselves & their families. It’s our right to protect ourselves & country from lawbreakers, violent gangs & individuals, drunk drivers, & those who take jobs from our citizens. There are no honest jobs Americans won’t do if they can provide for their family.
7. I’ll help pass Identity Theft & Fraud laws. ID Theft & Fraud are rampant. Laws to prevent businesses from using birth dates (DOB) & Social Security numbers (SS#) for ID (except when you’re hired) are needed. Then, your employer must have another identifier for your use that doesn’t include DOB- or SS#-related data. SS paperwork still says SS#’s are not to be used for ID except for employment.
8. I’ll sponsor a law making it illegal for phone companies to put unregulated or 3rd party charges on your bill. Phone companies get lots of money by billing you. It’s dishonest & customers must get their money back & phone companies must pay court costs + fines each time they engage in this &/or similar dishonest practices. Whoever makes the call, pays.
9. Homosexual “marriage” isn’t, by definition, & is illegal (as are “civil unions,” etc.) according to our Utah Constitution. They are a travesty (false or impudent imitation) of marriage. Elected officials pretending otherwise who provide insurance, etc. for such arrangements are unworthy of the office they hold.
